Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Erten

Esra Erten received the B.S. degree in Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering and the M.S.E.E. degree in Satellite Communication and Remote Sensing from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, Turkey, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. She received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Vision and Remote Sensing from the Berlin University of Technology, Berlin, Germany, in 2010. From 2008 to 2010, she was with the High-Frequency Institute, German Aerospace Center (DLR), Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, where she worked on information theory for multichannel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. From 2010 to 2012, she was with the Chair of Earth Observation and Remote Sensing, Institute of Environmental Engineering, ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, where she worked on applied radar remote sensing for environmental parameter estimation.
Currently, she is an Associate Professor with the Department of Geomatics Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, ITU. Her research interests include information extraction and image understanding from SAR and optical images; in particular, information theory, multivariate statistics, polarimetry, interferometry.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gülşen Taşkın Kaya

Gulsen Taskin Kaya received the B.S. degree in Geomatics Engineering, the M.S. degree in Computational Science and Engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in Computational Science and Engineering, from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkey, in 2001, 2003, and 2011, respectively. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management of Istanbul Technical University. She was a visiting scholar at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, in 2008–2009. Her current interests include pattern recognition in remote sensing, support vector machines, neural networks, earthquake damage assessment using remote sensing images, multi-temporal image analysis.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Alp Ertürk

Alp Ertürk received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Kocaeli University, Izmit, Turkey, in 2013. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Hyperspectral Computing Laboratory (HyperComp), University of Extremadura, Cáceres, Spain. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Kocaeli University. His research interests include digital image processing, remote sensing, and hyperspectral imaging.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kadim Taşdemir

Kadim Taşdemir received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, the M.S. degree in computer engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX, USA, in 2001, 2004, and 2008, respectively. Before joining Antalya International University, he was a Researcher with the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), Institute for Environment and Sustainability, Ispra, Italy, between 2009 and 2012, where he worked on automated control methods for monitoring agricultural resources using remote sensing imagery. He is a recipient of FP7 Marie Curie Career Integration Grant and TUBITAK Career Grant. His research interests include detailed knowledge discovery from high-dimensional and large data (especially remote sensing imagery) using machine learning (self-organized learning in particular), data mining, and pattern recognition.
